Hacienda del Alamo Location
Just over half an hour away from La Manga Club you will find Hacienda Del Alamo. One of the Murcia Regions new luxury golf resorts. The resort is just a short drive away from the main cities of the region; Murcia City and Cartagena and the beaches of Mazarron. The ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada can be reached in around 2 and a half hours and Madrid in around 4 hours.
Getting to Hacienda del Alamo
There is a choice of airports with San Javier half an hour away and Alicante little over an hour. A third airport is also planned and will be located at Corvera..
The existing road links are good. However the new Cartagena-Vera motorway will link the resort more closely with Cartagena and the beaches of Mazarron and the Alhama- Campo de Cartagena dual carriageway will bring Murcia City and San Javier airport much closer; bringing the resort even closer to the regions amenities.
Growing Economy
The economic boom in the region has brought many more services and shops to the Murcia region. There have been many large chain stores opening further outlets in the area for example El Corte Ingles. New large shopping centres are being added in Murcia, Cartagena and other towns within the region providing the consumer with more facilities in the way of cinemas, restaurants, and sporting activities as well as a much greater choice of shops
Properties & Services at the Resort
The Resort has villas, townhouses and apartments set in a gated community amidst the Murcian countryside on a 550 hectare site with the mountains of the Sierra Espuna as a backdrop. Hacienda Del Alamo was designed with space in mind with a projected 12% density of building to land. The properties sit on good sized plots, 1000 square metres being a typical size for a golf fairway villa. There are many fruit trees and where possible these have been kept and new almond, olive and carob trees have been planted helping to create the many green areas within the site. This countryside location has the benefit of modern technology with fibre optics bringing cable television, telephone and internet access to the resort. Owners took possession of the first phase of 200 homes in 2004, it's further phases being handed over every year since.
Golf at Hacienda del Alamo
The first of two planned golf courses was officially opened in April 2005. This Dave Thomas designed Championship standard course is built over 92 hectares, and 6,700 metres making it very spacious and one of the longest and widest in Europe. There are 8 lakes and 84 bunkers. It is a true test for golfers of all standards.
It is already highly regarded by those who have played it. In fact it has been described by the “voice of golf” himself, Peter Alliss as a “real gem”. A second course is also planned.
The golf practice facilities are also excellent at Hacienda Del Alamo. There is an Academy of 36 practice bays, a 6 hole practice course with pars 3 and par 4s, 2 putting greens and practice bunkers.
A new Club House opened in 2007 offering 2000 sq metres of facilities including a Golf shop, restaurants, lounge areas and a terrace with fantastic views to the course and beyond. The design and decor are to a very high standard.

Other Sports & Activities
Other Sports facilities are available. Bicycle and horse riding tracks can be found throughout the Resort. A new sports centre has now been built and is in use. The facilities include changing rooms, a pitch for football and rugby, 2 multi-sports courts, 4 tennis courts, 4 paddle courts and bowling greens. Additional sports facilities within the Resort are planned.
The surrounding area also offers many sporting activities including hiking and mountain biking in the Sierra De Carrascoy. Cabo De Palos and Mazarron are both renowned Scuba Diving venues.
The Mar Menor Sea has sailing, water skiing, jet bikes, windsurfing, fishing and boat cruising trips all available.
New Developments
Further property phases are currently under construction including the Pueblo Espanol This is a mix of squares and walkways and will become the commercial centre of the resort with 160 Apartments and townhouses in a rustic yet modern design and 47 shops and restaurants. This is due to be finished later in 2008. El Oasis is also under construction. This is a private gated community which will be within walking distance to the shops, clubhouse and hotel.
The 5 star hotel, which will be located next to the Pueblo Espanol, is currently under construction together with the Spa. Sol Melia will be managing this low rise villa style facility with 154 rooms on two floors surrounded by landscaped gardens.
